Cubs 9, Angels, 0: Jake Deals Aces, but Is It Enough?

Jayke Arrietta, through well, on the first day, but thats not enough;

Yesterday, in Opening Day, witch you may have missed, since it took place so late, on the West Coast of the United States, of America, in California, against the Angels, who play in Los, Angeles, of Anaheim, the Cubs, in there first game, of the season, played the Angels, and were able to walk away with a solid, 9-0 win, over the Angels.

Now, Ill get into all this in a moment, including Chris Briants’ selfish two strikeouts and the lack of any “pop”, save for Michael Monterio’s unenecessary home run, which happened in the sixth inning;

But what I want to talk about, is more importent, then just this one game; its the season, and our hopes and dreams, as fans of baseball in Chicago, and Chicagoland, but mostly, of the Cubs;

Whats importent, is the World Series; and did this win, put us any closer to that dream?

The answer, of course, is no;

First of all, this game shoudl never of happened; opening games against nonr-ival teams, in the American League, and after NCIS starts, is not what fans need; no, the antiquwaited idea of having teams west, of the M i s s is s i p p i river is an experiment, that, sadly, i must say, has failed; what fans need is to be able to see all of the games, and at a reasonable time; is that so much to ask?

Now, on to the game, itself; While Arrietta did throw his pitches reasonably, well, their are still question marks, above his perofrmence; for example, he only went seven, innings, and only struck out six batters; by my count, thats’ less then one batter, per, inning; if hes going to be an Ace, we need more from him; including, more innings, and more batters, struck out, at the plate.

Speaking, of the plate, which is were the vahnted Cubs lineup, hits; where was the offense?

Bryent, George Solar and Antonhy Rizzo hardly, did anything; a couple of hits, sure, but more strikeouts then they should of had, and they left the offence to Montaro and the lesser, pieces, of the team.

And finally, while, yes, its nice that the Cubs, are 1-and-0 to start the season, this is not any sign that they are going to win anything later this season; if you think they will, than, your cristal ball, is better then mine;

In conclusion, its a start, yes, but its not nearly enough; We fans, of Chicago, and Chicagoland, live and die witht this team, and we deserve more.
